Arrival and Concert Day

Arrival was uneventful.  Charlie and Jodie met us at the airport and we then transported to Windsor.  As soon as we got to the castle we saw the changing of the guard.  Windsor is a beautiful town....fairly touristy as one might imagine.  A traditional English country breakfast followed.  We were fortunate to see the changing of the guard at Windsor with terrific musicians.

CAMP!

We have all arrived (all 221 of us....staff and students), checked into Bluff Hall and started rehearsals on a terrific set of literature.  Saturday was a very long day, and Sunday promises to be longer.
Here's Sunday's schedule.  As you can see....no rest for the weary!
Mr. Iwinski, Director of Bands at Victor J. Andrew High School is rehearsing the Concert Band.

Mr. Gunn, Director of Bands at Taylorville High School, is our videographer.  He will have a video DVD of the tour available after the tour.  More information on this later!

Ms. Connie Reynolds, Director of Orchestras at Naperville Central High School, is rehearsing the IAM Orchestra.  This is going to be great!

Dr. Bell's pre-tour desk.  Classic.
Rehearsals will continue until 8:30 pm this evening, following which we will have a general meeting to discuss the concert procedure as well as packing, weighing and check out of the residence hall (at 2 AM!).  Many have flights at 6 am to Atlanta....EARLY MORNING!

We are a little more than two weeks out from our staff and faculty reporting and then quickly followed by the students.  The June newsletter is being mailed this week and all other preparations are moving along quickly.  We are all looking forward to a tremendous tour!
